Pretty Dahlia Box

Here is a pretty little box I created using "Ornate Cut Out Butterfly" and "Fred's Flowers - Dahlias" by Fred, She Said.  I used Label Sixteen by Spellbinders to create the top and bottom of the box.  Next, I took textured blue strip to create my sides of the box.  Then, I glued down my pattern paper and cardstock to the top and bottom of my Label Sixteen.  I used a white lace piece and glued to the top edge of the sides of the box.

I colored my leaves, Dahlias and butterflies with Copic markers, then cut them out.  I arranged them onto the top of the box.  Next, I created little note cards by using an embossing folder and adding another butterfly and sentiment.  My finishing touches are pearls.

Creating With Word Art

Meljen’s Designs has so many cute and adorable images, but do you know that there is a fabulous selection of Word Art too? You can also  find the Word Art in the Dollar Digi section.  Sometimes, when I don’t have time to color a full image, I whip up a quick card using one of the Word Art sentiments. It makes for a great card, and all you have to do is outline some of the words in the image.

As you see in my card I am using "When Life Gives You Lemons", I highlighted two of the words, and some of the swirls, then did a quick coloring of the lemons and lemonade. It maybe took me only a few moments to do! I added some cute ribbon, a punched trim and sweet bee embellishments. I only used a single patterned paper, and mounted it to a black panel, then to a white card! My card was done in less than 10 minutes!!

So take a moment to look through the Word Art section at Meljen’s Design store, and you’ll find time for a lot more cards in your busy life!

JustRite Papercraft Challenge #70 - Pretty Papers

I created this pretty box for the JustRite Papercraft Friday Challenge #070 - Pretty Papers. The goal of the challenge is to make your own background paper using a JustRite Papercraft stamp.  I chose to use the pretty flower from "Cast All Your Cares" stamp set and stamped it all over a light colored patterned paper from The Paper Studio.  I colored my flowers with Copic markers, then cut 1 Spellbinder Label Seventeen from my finished background paper.

Next, I cut a strip from my stamped background paper for my box walls.  Then I stamped, embossed, colored and adhered the "Classic Scallop Border" and "Lace Borders" for the top and bottom walls. I cut a rectangle out of black cardstock, and the largest Label Seventeen out of ivory cardstock.  I adhered my rectangle to my ivory Label Seventeen panel, then constructed the walls of my box on that same piece.

For the top of my box, I cut out another ivory Label Seventeen (Largest) for the base.  Next, I went one size smaller and cut out the black piece. Then I adhered my stamped patterned paper to the black Label Seventeen, then  added that panel to my ivory base.  I stamped and embossed the frame from "Cast All Your Cares", then cut it out with Spellbinder Labels Sixteen.  Next, I stamped my sentiment in the center with black ink, colored and glitter the edges for my finishing touches.  I adhered that panel with pop dots to the top of my box.  I stamped several flowers from "Cast All Your Cares", colored and layered them for a 3-D flower.  Finally, I embellished with a black satin bow topped with my 3-D flower and decorative pearls.
